Chevrolet Goes Fishing with FLW for 16th Year

Some of us can never get what's the big deal about fishing: hours and hours of standing around in the middle of nowhere, waiting for the damn line to move and announce that a poor bastard of a fish has bit the bate.

Others, on the other hand, have made fishing part of their lives. Quite a few, to be more precise, making fishing one of the most sought-after sports in the world and fishermen a perfect market segment for car manufacturers the likes of Chevrolet.

Since the inception of the FLW Outdoors fishing tournament in 1996, the American manufacturer has stood by the competition as one of the main sponsors. Now, for the 16th year in a row, the car maker announces an extension of the sponsoring.

"Chevrolet is proud to continue our longstanding relationship with FLW Outdoors and actively support the sport of fishing in communities across the country,
" said Phil Caruso, Promotions manager of Chevrolet.

Chevrolet will be represented in the 2011 season by the following anglers: Luke Clausen, Anthony Gagliardi, Dion Hibdon, Jimmy Houston, Larry Nixon, Jay Yelas, Bryan Thrift, (2010 FLW Tour Angler of the Year) and Jason Przekurat (on the National Guard FLW Walleye Tour).

As part of the new agreement, Chevy will display their products, anglers and provide promotional materials to fans at the FLW Outdoors Outdoor Expo surrounding the FLW Tour and championship events, and the College Fishing Festivals.

Before each event, the Chevrolet dealership closest to the fishing event will give fans the opportunity to meet the Chevy team anglers.
