Chevrolet Camaro Topless, Priceless

Already previewed by GM on what is now the Mecca of all new car launches, Facebook, the convertible version of the current generation Camaro revealed itself in its full glory today, prior to its public debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show later this week.

Already considered one of the best looking topless versions of the Camaro, the convertible will be powered, as was to be expected, by the same engines used on the coupe model. That is either a 3.6l V6 engine which spits 312 horsepower or the mighty 6.2l V8 with its whooping 426 horsepower (for connoisseurs, the V8 spells SS version).

Those who love to drive a stick will be offered a six-speed manual transmission as standard, while optional six-speed automatic has been created for those who like to cuddle behind the wheel without shifting all the time.

To be offered in two trim levels for each of the engines up for grabs (1LT and 2LT for the V6, 1SS and 2SS for the V8), the Camaro convertible will sell for $30,000, including $850 destination. The Camaro will be offered in nine exterior colors, with the removable tops available in black or tan (its worth mentioning that the folding top retracts in about 20 seconds).

“The launch of the new convertible opens Camaro design and performance to a new set of potential customers,”
said Chris Perry, vice president of marketing for Chevrolet. “The 21st century revival of Camaro is tremendously popular, so it’s a natural to now expand and elevate the product range in new directions.”
