Chattanooga in Talks to Produce VW's New Midsize Sedan

Ever since Volkswagen confirmed rumors that a new production facility would be built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, people have started talking about the new models prepared by the German carmaker with a lot of rumors predicting several types of cars. But even so, Volkswagen always avoided unveiling too many details, but admitted that Chattanooga will design a brand new mid-size sedan model especially addressed to the US market.

Today, NBC's Chattanooga representatives WRCB unveiled a couple of new details about the upcoming Volkswagen model which, according to Autoblog, is often referred to as the NMS (New Mid-size Sedan). It may seem like the new Volkswagen will be powered by a TDI engine combined with double-clutch transmissions, similar to Jetta, the aforementioned source added.

WRCB also published a video showing some market requirements to be met by the new Volkswagen's model. Some of the most important include large trunk volume, ABS with front and rear disc brakes, front and rear airbags, child seat anchors, mobile devices connectors and high performance radio.

Beside all of these, WRCB's unveiled a few New Midsize Sedan attributes, pointing that VW's model will provide superior driving dynamics, dynamic powertrain and acceleration and superior design transporting sustainable values. Moreover, a FSI engine may also be included among the existing engine configurations, in order to get reduced fuel consumption combined with high engine power.

Volkswagen announced in July, 2008 that a new production facility will be built in Chattanooga, pointing that the new plant is due to open in 2011 . Back in October, Volkswagen stated that a brand new circuit may also be constructed near the production plant, obviously for testing purposes, which could even help VW motorsport improve the performance of its race models.
