Caparo T1 Launched at Salon Privé in London

Designing the fastest car in the world seems to be one of the main tasks for several automakers, without taking into account the economic downturn which obviously brings interest for such a high-performance vehicle close to zero. But even so, companies compete in creating more and more powerful models which claim they can reach astonishing high speeds in only a few seconds.

The best example comes straight from London as Caparo unveiled the T1 at the Salon Prive at London's Hurlingham Club. In essence, the T1 is a two-seater performance car sporting an aluminum V8 engine developing an impressive power of 575 bhp at 10,500 rpm. Mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox, this powerplant produces a maximum speed of 322 km/h (200 mph) with low downforce setup. The 0 to 100 km/h is done in less than 5 seconds, according to figures provided by Caparo.

“The Caparo team will shortly be unveiling the brand new partnership with one of the most reputed prestigious car dealerships in the country. The agreement will see Caparo concentrating on the continued development of the T1 and associated technologies, with the continued evolution of the car's driving experience and pushing further its track and on-the-road performance. The chosen Caparo partner is going to take control of the super car's sales, marketing and after sales service,” the manufacturer said in statement for the press.

There will several versions available, Caparo said in the statement, with the top variant called Race Extreme and boasting the T1's most powerful engine along with upgraded electronics, fully carbon brakes and lightweight magnesium wheels.
