Cadillac to Resume Making Right-Hand Drive Cars

Cadillac isn’t exactly experiencing the most profitable period in its lifetime but even so, heavy investments almost always translate into better profits, if done right. Since the American brand plans to invest $12 billion in new models in the next few years, things might turn around soon.
According to Auto Express, at the European launch of the new Escalade, the PR manager for Cadillac Europe, Rene Kreis said that development of right-hand drive cars is high on their priorities list. The problem is, it is necessary to develop the new models from the ground up if they’re to be done right.

That means that the current line-up of cars won’t be offered in right-hand drive alternatives simply because it’s too late. Take it as both good news and bad news if you live in one of those countries where driving is done on the wrong side of the road.

The good side of things is that you’ll get the future products from Cadillac that should also be better, faster and more efficient. Chances are, the smallest offerings on the table will be offered as models like the Escalade are not necessarily fit for all corners of the world (with it requiring more room to fit that is).

The bad news is that the mean ATS-V and CTS-V we have right now won’t be accessible. From the looks of things, by the time the new models of these beasts come out, the downsizing trend might ‘work its magic’ and leave us without the 6.2-liter V8 supercharged plants that we all love right now.

Of course, the company will keep an eye on making sure the balance between weight and power is kept intact but still, there’s no replacement for displacement.
