C Class Gets Tuned Up

As the new generation of the Mercedes C Class was launched only a couple of months ago, here come the first tuning options, offered by the German tuner Lorinser. They tampered with the car's performance, but the exterior was more than taken care of, so here is a brief presentation: The most noticeable aspect is the large air intakes in the fenders, a common thing on Lorinser modified vehicles.

Next come the 6 gill like vents and the redesigned side skirts, which now have a more technical look. In the front, you can find an imposing Lorinser bumper spoiler designed specially for the C Class, and all of this is sitting on Lorinser type RS8 light alloy wheels. As for the performance, a Lorinser Diesel Module has been added, and Lorinser brags that it adds “considerable power”.

How much exactly they fail to reveal, but I'm guessing somewhere in the ballpark of 10 to 20 horsepower. Also, in the front there is a large air intake, which is covered by a webbed grille, and to the left and the right, large fog lights have been added. The third generation of the C Class has an extended wheelbase and track, and some styling cues reminiscent of the current S Class. It will have three levels of equipment, classic, Elegance and Avantgarde, with rear and all wheel drive.

The C Class is Mercedes Benz's entry level luxury car, and was first introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190. Until the A Class was introduced in 1997, it was the cheapest Mercedes money could buy. So far, three generations of the C Class have been launched, the W202 (1993), the W203 (2000) and the W204, which was introduced in January of this year.
