Bwin Extends Deal with MotoGP for 2010

MotoGP might have lost yet another team prior to the German Grand Prix this weekend – Grupo Francisco Hernando has decided to pull the plug on their MotoGP operations – but what they did in turn was secure another year of partnership with betting company bwin.

According to a press release issued by MotoGP's promoter Dorna Sports, the global betting company will continue to be an active part of the sport for the upcoming season. The renewal of the deal between the two companies – that started in 2004 – includes title sponsorships from bwin for the Spanish and Portuguese Grands Prix (at Jerez and Estoril respectively), while also active roles within the San Marino and Czech Republic rounds.

During the years of our partnership bwin has proved to be a significant and reliable partner for MotoGP with lots of drive and innovation. No question, bwin provides MotoGP with extra horsepower,” said Dorna’s Managing Director Pau Serracanta, according to the press release.

As we are fully committed to the FIM MotoGP World Championship we are proud to pursue our partnership with Dorna Sports. MotoGP broadcasting reaches hundreds of millions of viewers throughout Europe and the world. It has become one of the most exciting sports events out there and fits perfectly to the bwin brand,” added bwin Head of Sports Marketing Andrea Gaudenzi.

The ongoing partnership between the two companies will also mean bwin logos will continue to be a regular within the MotoGP paddock, pit lane, start/finish lane as well as other important spots across the circuits. The value of the contract extension to 2010 was not revealed by any of the two parties.
