Button Upset by Schumacher's Move

Jenson Button criticized Michael Schumacher after their on-track battle in the Spanish Grand Prix. Mercedes' Schumacher defended his position hard for many laps as McLaren's quicker Button tried to overtake him in Barcelona.

Button had no problem with Schumacher’s moves until the Englishman’s first pitstop. When Button rejoined the track after solving his clutch problem, Schumacher made a move around the outside of him to gain a position.

"I didn't really know where Michael was on the outside of me. He turned in and if I didn't back out of it, we would've crashed," the reigning world champion told reporters after the race. "There you go, you'd think with his experience he would know. It wasn't really the right move," Button added.

The McLaren driver had nothing else to criticize about Schumacher, saying the German defended his place well for the rest of the race.

"It's tough to overtake here, and Michael's not silly. He knows where to put his car, so on a track like this you're not going to overtake him,” Button said. “He was putting it on the inside, and I couldn't pass on the outside because he just pushed me wide every time. He didn't make a mistake, so it was very frustrating”, the McLaren driver added.

Schumacher was unapologetic about the incident with Button, which happened when the Brit made his pits exit. "I'm pretty sure it's been rather frustrating for him and exciting for me," said the German.

Despite having a slower car than Button’s McLaren, Schumacher defended his position until the end of the race, finishing fourth in the Spanish Grand Prix. Jenson Button had to settle for fifth place.
