Button Hands Kylie Minogue "Women of the Year" Award

British driver Jenson Button took some time off Formula One this week and accepted the invitation of the Glamour magazine to present the “woman of the year” trophy during the Tuesday award ceremony. The Brawn GP driver, currently holding a comfortable lead in the Formula One classification, forgot all about rubber on the track and decided to spend some more time in London, for the aforementioned gala.

And it was someone with whom he was particularly close to in the past that Jenson presented the award. Australian pop star Kylie Minogue was the lucky winner of the trophy, and it's hard to believe that Button's role in the awarding ceremony was simply a coincidence.

Kylie is known to be a feverish supporter of Button on track, having visited the Honda Racing F1 garage plenty of times in the past. It's already a well-known tradition that the Minogue sisters – Australia's pride – visit the Formula One caravan every year during the season opener in Melbourne.

The two sisters annually get paddock access from Button, who is a known friend of Kylie's sister Dani.

During the course of the same evening, Ugly Betty's Becki Newton received the “Comedy Acress of the Year” award from Paul Sculfor and David Gandy, while Girls Aloud's Cheryl Cole was named “TV Personality of the Year”. The evening was a total success for Cole, as Girls Aloud also received the “Band of the Year” trophy.

Kylie's award came less than a week after she had celebrated her 41st anniversary, in Rome.
