BTCS Volvo S60 Makes Comforting Racing Debut

The racing version of the Volvo S60 sedan made its racing debut the past weekend at Zolden, the first phase of the 2010 Belgian Touring Car Series (BTCS). The vehicle, driven by Vincent Radermecker and Eric van de Poele, showed enormous potential by finishing 9th overall.

“This car has a lot of potential," Vincent Radermecker said in a release. "I had a lot of fun driving it. Although frustrated that we missed out the podium this time, I am sure that we will be able to fight for a win very soon."

The race version of the Volvo S60 has been developed in accordance with the BTCS regulations, meaning it has a tubular chassis, the same type of front and rear suspension and aerodynamics.

"We must remember that this car was just an idea four months ago and the team came to the first race with a completely new car and only 120 kilometers of testing. This to be compared with our STCC program (Swedish Touring Car Championship) where we already have tested 3,000 kilometers ahead of this season premiere,"
said Derek Crabb, Motorsport Director.
