BRP Inc., home of the Bombardier and Can-Am Spyders and ATV, has released the figures for the first fiscal quarter of 2013, showing good performance after going public.
The Canadian company states that the first three months of 2013 brought a 12% increase in revenues, excluding sport products, to $804.3 million. A bigger increase was however recorded in the Year-Round products: a whopping 27 percent, with the stars of the sales being the Can-Am Spyder ST and Maverick SxS family.

The gross profit reached 27.1% of revenues, a 2.7% increase from the same figures for 2012. According to BRP, “the gross profit margin decreased by 70 basis points primarily due to additional manufacturing costs in Year-Round Products in order to increase production flexibility to better respond to market demand and to additional expenses supporting the watercraft transfer to the Querétaro, Mexico facility."

As the same time, operating expenses went up 7.2% due to higher advertising expenses and R7D investments. One of the major releases in Q1 was the new Rotax 900 ACE snowmobile engine which is already recording strong orders for vehicles to be delivered in the second half of the year, laying the foundation for good 2014 prospects.
