Based on their V-12 Chronograph series and the V6 Automatics, the design of this watches focuses on the mechanicals of race cars, as well as their looks.
The similarities are more than obvious: the black and orange motif (such as the orange inside of the potholes on the black leather strap, or the sky blue and orange stitching on the strap), while the large crown carries the Gulf logo and the pushers are shaped to imitate engine pistons, complete with the valves. Even the hands have holes to resemble those used in racecar construction to lighten the chassis.
The V12-44 Gulf comes in its own special case, complete with the limited edition watch number stamped onto a metal nameplate, acting as the ‘chassis’ number for the watch.
BRM says that only 100 units of each of these limited edition watches will be made, out of which just 30 are set to be imported in the United States. The V12-44 model will retail for $8,450, while the V6-44 has a price tag of $4,350.
