First you should activate your “pinch of salt” mode, because the following piece of information has only one source, albeit a rather credible one.
In a story about the Mercedes-Benz ML 350 BlueTec Guard – for which Daimler hasn't issued a press release yet either - MB Passion reports that they managed to check out a W222 S-Class Guard at the Mercedes-Benz and smart media event which too place before the first press day at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
While that info in itself is important, an even more newsworthy detail about the matter is the fact that the S-Class Guard shown was a V12-model, which apparently will be the standard engine for the soon-to-be-released W222 S-Class Guard.
In other words, the long-awaited S 600 model was previewed just for the media night, and not a single journalist present bothered to snap a photo or even mention the fact. Not to mention that Mercedes-Benz themselves have been tight-lipped about the subject.
Some earlier reports were saying that we should expect a completely new V12 engine instead of the aging M275 twin-turbo, but more recent info would suggest otherwise. Stay tuned for more info about the matter in the following weeks.
