Brawn GP Bring New Front Wing to Istanbul

With a multitude of teams bringing some new aerodynamic components for the upcoming Turkish Grand Prix, championship leaders Brawn GP could not have come to Istanbul empty-handed. As revealed by Ross Brawn in a preview of this weekend's race, the BGP 001 will undergo some slight modifications ahead of the Friday practice sessions, as it's to be fitted with a new front wing.

In addition to the redesigned front wing, the Englishman also announced that both Jenson Button's and Rubens Barrichello's cars will be slightly updated – aerodynamically speaking – while also benefiting from new suspension elements. This will be the 2nd time this season Brawn brings important updates to their BGP 001.

We know that our competitors will be very strong in Turkey this weekend. Development work on the BGP 001 car has continued apace at the factory and we will be bringing a new front wing to Turkey along with some aerodynamic updates and new rear suspension elements,” said Brawn.

The 54-year old Englishman also expressed his excitement over his team's 2009 campaign, as he reckoned it has been a magnificent first part of the season for the Brackley based outfit. Tho thirds into the 2009 season, Brawn GP is top of both the constructors' and drivers' standings, holding some impressive 43.5 and 28 points of advantage (to first non-Brawn driver, Sebastian Vettel) respectively.

It's hard to believe that we are already over a third of the way through this season and it's been a very intense but immensely rewarding start for the Brawn GP team,” added Brawn.

Button & Co will try to break Ferrari's supremacy on the Istanbul Otodrom, as the Italian team has won every race from pole position during the past 3 seasons, all through Brazilian driver Felipe Massa.
