Over the years, Brabus has established itself as the Mercedes tuner for those who want massive power and torque figures from their cars. As is the trend nowadays, their latest projects features a 2.2-liter diesel rather than the monstrous V8s and V12s they are used to producing.
The diesel motor is combined with in-wheel electric motors, each producing 110 hp and a whopping 800 Nm (590 lb-ft). Their combined grunt propels the car from from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.4 seconds. Unfortunately, no other detailed specifications on the car are available at the moment.
The main goal of the project was not performance in itself and Protean Electric (the electric motor provider) claims that their technology could easily slash fuel bills by up to 30%. It will be interesting to see how Brabus incorporates the new green principles into their overall brand image successfuly and what their future projects will look like.
