Boden’s New Volvo Trucks Supplied by Thomas Hardie

One of Manchester city’s waste wood recycling firms, Boden's Wood Waste Recycling has added five new Volvo FH-500s to their fleet, thus expanding to a 20 Volvo truck total. The five 6x2 tractor units have 500 horsepower each and come highly specified with Globetrotter XL cab, I-Shift automated transmission and Euro 5 SCR technology.

“Due to the nature of our business, we needed trucks with a bit of bite. We chose the FH-500s because they are an exceptional machine and the back-up service and maintenance from Volvo is excellent,” stated Steve Austin, Transport Operations Manager for Boden’s. “With Volvo, we don’t have to worry about our vehicles and can instead focus on our core business,” he also added.

Boden’s processes around 7,500 tonnes of materials each week, which is turned into chips for use in the board manufacturing industry, as well as being turned into animal bedding and biomass fuel. All the vehicles have been added to the fleet as part of a four-year vehicle replacement plan, and were supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercial. The company was also impressed with Volvo’s online service, which allowed them to check service history, schedule vehicle maintenance, review the cost of maintaining each vehicle and manage how well they are performing for their business.

“We’ve always had a good relationship with Thomas Hardie. We use them because they work around our schedule, collecting our vehicles from the depot at the end of the day and getting them back to us in the early hours, which then enables us to maximise vehicle usage without affecting our delivery schedule. Their 24-hour service is perfect for our business,” explains the Boden’s manager.
