BMW’s Kidsbike, Two Bikes in One

BMW introduced the Kidsbike using the results of the recent Motor function Module Survey, which showed that the majority of the 4500 children over 4 years of age have deficits in motor functions, and 30% found simple tasks like balancing much too difficult.

The solution to this problem seems to be riding a bike, which BMW promotes it as the best training for the sense of balance, increase strength and endurance, while also having fun.

“Exercise is not only great fun, it is also important for the physical and intellectual development process,”
explained Family Minister Ursula von der Leyen at the presentation of the survey results.

The Kidsbike can be used by toddlers for learning, and as they grow up, it becomes a children’s bike after mounting the chain and the pedal unit. That is why BMW’s Kidsbike is considered as two bikes in one.

The design team has also paid attention to the safety features. The learning bike version comes equipped with a front wheel brake to avoid collisions, while additional safety is provided by a TUV approved bicycle helmet in the color of the frame, a bell and reflectors at the front and in the pedals.

If your child cannot separate from the favorite playthings, these can be carried by using the net attached to the ergonomically formed handlebars and zipped bag on the frame, but that should not pass over the maximum safe loading of 50 kg.

The BMW Kidsbike weighs 6 kg when used by toddlers and 8 kg later, with the chain and pedal unit. The bike comes in three different colors, such as blue, orange and red, at the price of 259 euros ($360).

The Kidsbike along with the Cruiser and Touring Bikes that we previously presented can be purchased online at www.bmw-shop.de or at selected BMW dealers.
