BMW X6 M Convertible Rendered as the Craziest Niche Possible

The BMW X6 M was launched last week and the press was immediately all over it. However, as brilliant as the car might sound on paper, we’re still reluctant towards it, at least until we get to drive it. The biggest no-no comes over the rear axle where an air suspension was installed.
Moving on, the renderers around the world didn’t waste time and started working on variations of the car. The first one comes from X-Tomi Design and is absolutely.... horrific.

There’s been a lot of talk lately about various manufacturers looking into building SUVs that fold their roofs but none of them actually came through. Range Rover went the furthest in this regard, presenting an Evoque concept a few years back. However, nothing came to fruition.

As far as BMW goes, they never said one word about such a model but it wouldn’t be extremely surprising if it ever came true, especially considering the current trends in Munich that saw the German company interested in every possible niche and even creating some of its own.

The X6 itself, for example, was the first of its kind, in the world. The Sport Activity Coupe segment was invented by the E71 model and today we’re looking at a possible new ground-breaker.

If in the past we would’ve said this is crazy and BMW will never make it, today we don’t have the audacity to go that far. You never know...

It would be a rather interesting proposition though, a 2-door convertible SUV the size of the X6 M. Get 575 HP, 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque and all-wheel drive into the mix and you get a monster! Even so, if the niche is slim enough for the X6, the drop-top’s aimed demographic would probably be even slimmer.
