BMW X5 Stars in “The Ghost Writer” Movie

In its first year as the event’s main partner, BMW is the star of the Berlin International Film Festival. Dubbed Berlinale 2010, the event highlighted BMW’s return onto the big screen, sharing the spot again alongside renown Irish actor, Pierce Brosnan.

This time, however, its not a 7-Series nor an R-Series motorcycle which were featured in James Bond series’ Tomorrow Never Dies”, but an X5 model,  Moreover, Pierce won’t be in fact driving the X5, as this task was assigned to Ewan McGregor.

The X5 has several scenes during the movie, some showcasing the BMW ConnectedDrive system and how it tells Ewan’s character that traffic is clear. The system was first presented by the German carmaker at the 2009 IAA in Frankfurt, and combines such features like individual online, assistance and service systems in the car under the general term BMW ConnectedDrive.

“The Ghost Writer Movie,” directed by Roman Polanski, tells the story of a ghostwriter (Ewan McGregor) hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister, but who ends up uncovering secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.

At the Berlin premiere, the stars, which also included Kim Catrall and James Belushi, were chauffeured in a fleet of cars supplied by BMW, starting with the BMW 7 Series, X5 and the new 5er.

BMW has put up a trailer of the movie on its YouTube page and it appears the SUV is getting a lot of screen presence. You can see it for yourself by watching the video below:
