The F25 X3 has everything going for it. It's bigger than the previous version, it has a set of new, powerful engines and a lot more improvements. tested the 2013 version dubbed xDrive28i to see whether it's worthy of a second look.
The xDrive28i X3 has a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and, before you say it's too small, it develops 245 HP and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque which proves to be enough for daily use. Furthermore, the fuel consumption for the combined cycle is rated at 7.6 l/100 (31 mpg) which is pretty good for a 1,865 kg (4,111 lb) SUV.

The car looks good, both on the outside and on the inside. The new daytime running lights LED Coronas make it a dashing appearance on the road and the interior is made out of quality materials. The one they tested had the leatherette which is not recommended, because of its cheap look.

The interior is redesigned and offers more space than the previous version. The backseat offers plenty of space, even for 3 passengers, although the middle seat is slightly raised and harder than the other 2. The 40:20:40 folding backseats are extremely handy, especially the middle section that can be used to accommodate long objects and still use the rear seats.

As an SUV, the X4 offers a lot of space. The trunk offers 550 L of storage and it goes up to 1,600 L with the rear seats folded. A downside is that the electric tailgate  is not a standard option.

The feel of this Bimmer is sporty and agile, despite its weight. It is as sportive as an SUV can possibly be. You feel the xDrive system kicking in but only in case of emergencies, otherwise it's completely quiet. The 8-speed automatic gearbox is impressive. Of course, it races for higher gears to save fuel, but if you want to take it to the limit, you can go in Sport mode or change gears manually.

"All in all, the BMW X3 is a fantastic vehicle. The size and cargo space make it a good choice for small families with plenty of flexibility. Add to that an engaging driving experience (especially for this vehicle class) and you’ve got a mid-sized utility vehicle that checks off a lot of boxes. You need to be careful with the options boxes though – start checking them off, and the price skyrockets in a hurry."
