BMW’s current X3 model has been rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, after it was carefully scrutinized in tests the safety body four different accident conditions - front impacts at 40mph, side on vehicle collisions, rollover protection and rear crash protection.
The car is fitted not only with front and side airbags, but also ones for your knees. In the case of the side impact test IIHS noted that for both the driver and rear seat passenger, “Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.”
“Safety has always been a top priority at BMW and our vehicles have always done well in IIHS tests,” said Tom Baloga, Vice-president Engineering (US) for the BMW Group. “As well as the X3 will protect its driver and passengers in a crash we believe that it is even more important that the X3 has been engineered to help the driver avoid the crash in the first place.”
