In true German style, BMW announced today that their CEO, Mr. Harald Krueger, is all better now and will be getting back to work this week as he is perfectly fine. In case you forgot, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bavarian group, collapsed on the Frankfurt Motor Show stage last week for unknown reasons.
Of course, the Germans never said anything about why this whole ordeal happened, most people thinking it was all a fatigue-related matter, but it could hide an even bigger, underlying issue.
However, BMW wasn’t shy about announcing the man’s return and a spokesperson said on Monday that ‘he’s back at work and feeling 100 percent fit.’ We certainly hope so.
Unfortunately, Mr. Krueger’s collapse overshadowed the presentation of the company’s new 7 Series flagship limousine and the introduction of a couple of new models as well. Furthermore, the press couldn’t get a hold of him for private interviews from which we might’ve learned a thing or two about the company’s plans.
The German press also started a heated debate about the life of big company CEOs and how their stressful environments are affecting them. However, nobody managed to come up with a long-term solution.
Mr. Krueger has just taken over the reigns of BMW earlier this year after the previous CEO, Dr. Norbert Reithofer stepped down in May. Under the 49-year old’s new leadership sources claim that the Bavarian company is returning to its roots, the Board of Management approving the production of new models viewed as iconic.
Those include the M2 but also the M4 GTS, a supercar in collaboration with McLaren and a plethora of technological improvements for upcoming models.
Together with the new head of the M division, Mr. Franciscus van Meele, Krueger is said to be more open to new angles on how the blue and white roundel should be used. All-wheel drive has finally been approved for M cars and a new i model is seemingly being developed as we speak.
