This month, BMW China started a new project, aiming at making the Chinese people realize the benefits an Electric Vehicle brings, and how they work.
Fifteen lucky users in the city of Shenzen got the keys to some of BMW's ActiveE 1 Series models and they will be using them for a year, in exchange of a monthly payment of RMB4200 ($684).

This way, the drivers will get to know how the car behaves in the area's hot, humid climate, compared to the cooler, drier northern capital city. Karsten Engel, President and CEO of BMW Group Region China said at the handover that this experiment will open up a new chapter in the history of e-mobility.

“We will make concerted efforts with our partners and customers to push forward with the commercialization of electric vehicles, and get fully prepared for the era of e-mobility,” he said at the event.
