It doesn't matter if you're an Audi man, a Mercedes-Benz fan or a Tesla kind of guy, if you have even the slightest interest in the movie industry (i.e. if you've ever watched an action flick and enjoyed it), then you should be excited about the return of "BMW Films."
The simple fact there is not one entire BMW car showing up in the trailer is enough to show just how un-marketing-biased the Bavarians are approaching this project. Sure, this first short film is all about the new BMW 5 Series, so featuring it in the trailer would have certainly made it into the all-time history of automotive world bloopers, but BMW could have added other models. And yet it didn't.

We keep saying "first" when speaking about "The Escape," but BMW has not confirmed whether there will be others following. Wouldn't it be cool if the Germans decided to launch all of their new models by producing a short film starring each car? You don't have to answer that, we've already established that BMW Films was a great idea that was also superbly executed.

That's mostly down to the people involved. OK, the money also helped, but you need that if you want to work with Hollywood's best. This time around we have the same Clive Owen with slightly longer hair, Dakota Fanning whom you might not recognize all grown up, Vera Farmiga whom you know from Martin Scorsese's "The Departed," and a man we all loved to hate in AMC's "The Walking Dead:" Jon Bernthal.

But the new BMW 5 Series is supposed to be the real star of the film. Whether that idea will be conveyed or not is all down to the director, who is none other than Neill Blomkamp. He is the man behind the highly-acclaimed "District 9" (8.0 on IMDb.com), but also the less appreciated (and rightly so) "Elysium."

The new trailer doesn't really reveal much new compared to the first release, but it shows the final footage that will make it into the movie rather than the behind-the-scenes shots featured initially. We don't know much about the storyline, but we get the feeling that Dakota Fanning's character is going to play the victim, while Clive Own will probably be the one who helps her escape. Or BMW might surprise us and have a totally different story lined up. Which would be great. Anyway, stay tuned on October 23 for the short movie's release on BMWfilms.com.
