BMW has recently announced a massive worldwide recall that affects 1.3 million vehicles, out of which Reuters reports that around 368,000 were sold in the US. The campaign affects 5- and 6-Series models from the 2003 to 2010 model years.
BMW says that the battery cable covers may have been mounted improperly, with this potential leading to vehicle starting failure and even fire. However, the automotive producer claims that there have been no reported incidents linked to this.
The company will notify owners soon, with the fix of course set to be made free of charge: “Vehicle owners will be notified in writing. Affected vehicles will remain at the respective BMW Partner repair workshop for approximately 30 minutes, the service, of course, being free of charge to the customer."
