We’ve previously shown you an interior shot of an F10 BMW M5 with a manual transmission, with the gearbox only being offered for the US market. Now BMW has officially confirmed that it will offer a six-speed manual for the US-spec M5 at the Detroit Auto Show.
This offers customers an alternative to the standard seven-speed M Double-Clutch Transmission (M-DCT), with the feature being offered as no-cost option. The manual has six gears instead of the M-DCT’s seven, but the final drive ration and the M differential setting are the same.
We’ll remind you that BMW has previously warned customers that this might be the last M5 with a manual, as the company wants to make efforts in other directions rather than developing a manual that can handle all that power and torque just for the US market.
The F10 BMW M5 is scheduled to arrive in showrooms across the US late this summer, but BMW has not announced the pricing so far.
