BMW’s latest weapon, the M4 Coupe is basically what everyone expected from the M division. People complained the current models are too heavy, not agile enough and synthetic. The M4 solved most of the problems and is now off to write history.
The car comes fitted with the S55 engine, a heavily upgraded version of the popular N55 unit that is power most of the current line-up. However, unlike its ‘regular’ sibling, the Motorsport-enhanced version is way ahead on technology.

With two Mitsubishi turbochargers attached to it, the inline 6-cylinder, 3-liter engine makes 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. That’s the worst case scenario number though, as plenty of dyno readings showed that the numbers are actually a bit higher.

Tuners quickly jumped on-board, though, and are already offering kits to make the M4 better. Lightweight, for example, a German tuner, recently unveiled one of their M4 projects and it’s quite impressive.

According to them, the car has 520 HP at the crank, accompanied by 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque, roughly 100 more in each department, compared to the stock model.

This being a car destined for both track and daily use they went even further and installed a couple of parts to make it better on a proper circuit. Therefore, a new front spoiler and rear wing made of carbon fiber were included along with new BBS 19” wheels and Bilstein Clubsport suspension.

Since the power output was considerably increased, the exhaust was also changed with one made out of titanium, with valve control. Other changes include a roll cage, bucket seats with six-point safety belts and an enclosed underbody. The grand total of this kit, including the car, adds up to €89,000 ($114,354) which is not that much, considering the M4 starts at €72,200 ($92,768) in Germany.
