The adjacent video offers us a pretty frightening perspective, allowing us to see how it feels when your steering wheel gets disconnected from the front wheels.
This is what appears to happen to the driver of the E46 BMW M3 race car in the video, which was lapping the Nurburgring at the time. As a left-hander approaches, the man tries to steer and eventually reaches full lock, but nothing happens.

Thhe M3 ends up kissing the side barrier, with the impact being a rather mild one, as the driver had applied the brakes. The situation also caused the driver to use pieces of NSFW language.

The problem was that the bolt that connects the wishbone to the hub failed. Nevertheless, the good part is that, as you are reading / watching this, the car has already been fixed.
