On Saturday morning, we woke up to the sound of the BMW 4 Series, the first brand new nameplate for the German carmaker in a long time. Revealed only as a coupe, the F32 two-door will replace the outgoing 3 Series model.
A convertible version will, of course, be derived from the F30 architecture and will spawn a convertible which will debut this fall. Until that happens, let's enjoy this rendering of the imminent 4 Series created by X-Tomi Design.
The Hungarian designer has chopped the roof off the car and fitted a rag-top, which makes the 4er look like a miniature 6 Series. We know from previous spyshots of the car that the 4 Series Cabrio will actually continue to have a folding metal roof which gives it an elegant look and better protection against the elements.
BMW has made no upgrades to the engine of the top-spec 435i, meaning it continues to offer the N55 3-liter engine, 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque. In the convertible, that should be good for 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds with the optional 8-speed automatic.
