Manhart Racing, a BMW-dedicated tuner, has unleashed a three-stage violent tuning program for the BMW M3.
The most modest stage, if we can say that, straps a small compressor to the M3’s 420 HP 4 liter V8 engine. This uses a supercharging pressure of 0.35 bar to bring the unit to an M5-beating 515 HP. For the owners who want an even wilder M3, the German tuning house offers an increased supercharging pressure (0.50 bar) that enables the V8 to reach an output of 585 HP.
The third and ultimate stage uses an ASA large compressor (this has a supercharging pressure of 0.67 bar), a bespoke titanium exhaust unit (70 mm pipe diameter) and twin 200 cell race catalytic converters. In this extreme incarnation, the M3’s engine produces a staggering 655 HP. This allows the Manhart Racing BMW M3 Compressor to deal with the first hundred in 3.7 seconds. If pushed, the car will go on until it exceeds 350 km/h.
To cope with the power increase, the M3 has received a Bilstein PSS10 threaded suspension, and a bespoke braking system that uses 365 mm discs and BMW M5 calipers for the front axle and 345 mm discs for the rear axle. The performance-addicted coupe rides on 20-inch classic BBS challenge rims wrapped in high performance Continental tires.
Apart from the standard M3 features, the car treats its passengers with features such as complete Alcantara-leather fittings and new sport seats (these include a heating function). The driver gets special attention, as he enjoys a performance steering wheel that features a LED display showing temperature, g-meter and quarter mile times.
