Last time we met up with the guys from The Fast Lane Car they were drag racing the brand new M235i against a bigger, meaner and more powerful Lexus IS-F at 1 mile above sea level, of course, as they got us used to.
Fortunately for the 2er and unfortunately for the Japanese car, the German engineering won that race, hands down, even though it had around 100 HP less and a much smaller engine helped by a turbocharger.
Looking at the two, you’d have to squint really hard to see what makes them rivals in any way, to find anything that might justify comparing them. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t find anything that put them together for a proper comparison. Even so, the guys went on with their review any way.
Talking about the M235i, the praising just kept on going from the first moment they got inside and pressed the acceleration pedal. They loved the lightness, the power and the gearbox of the car alongside the exterior design and the sound at the same time.
Actually, they even got the point BMW tried to make with this new model: it’s a comeback to the company’s trademark recipe that pushed them to the top back in the day. Check out what they had to say about both cars in the video below.
