BMW has launched the most frugal and clean-burning diesel in the 5-Series range for the UK market. The right hand drive 520d EfficientDynamics can be expected to be one of the leaders on the market in terms of executive company cars, given its low emissions rating of just 119 grams per 100 km.
“The BMW 5 Series has proved to be one of the most successful cars in history with nearly 6,000,000 models sold over the last four decades. Now in its sixth iteration, the BMW 5 Series has upped the ante again by being offered with a class-leading diesel engine that records some impressive emissions and fuel consumption figures, while still being able to offer a driver the behind-the-wheel experience you would expect from the marque,” the automaker says.
The 520d EfficientDynamics makes use of the same efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel with 184 horsepower. Thanks to the introduction of Auto Start-Stop, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a double-wishbone front suspension, the saloon now combines impressive 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) times of 8.2 seconds with a combined efficiency figure of 62.8 mpg in Britain.
The recommended retail price for this one is £30,435, but if you spec it up with extra trim, automatic air conditioning and other goodies, you can go all they way up to £37,065.
