Everybody knows you shouldn't be playing with electricity, but you just won't be able to help yourself when BMW summons its elemental beast, the i8 sportscar. Ahead of the official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next well, the Germans are now teasing the full production version of the i8.
Of course, we already know exactly what the car looks like, but the video still manages to stir some emotion. From the all-LED headlights and taillights to the trick doors, this is unlike any other BMW on the market.
Hopefully, the i8 is going to be more about driving dynamics and performance than saving the polar bears. But heaven knows we needed a sportscar that doesn't burn through its whole gas tank in a day.
Official performance figures for the i8 have already been released ahead of the official debut. The car reaches 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and is limited to 250 km/h. The powertrain is made up of a 1.5-liter turbo engine and one electric motor over the front axle for a combined 362 hp and 570 Nm of torque.
