Seeing a BMW i8 on the street is a rare enough occasion. Seeing two of them together is, most definitely, a reason to buy lottery tickets because you’re an extremely lucky individual.
Autogespot spotter Techart must have some lottery tickets in his pockets right now as he stumbled upon not one but two of BMW’s plug-in hybrid sportcars somewhere in France, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin to be exact.

Unfortunately, he decided to focus on the Protonic Blue one that stole the show but we really can’t complain. Shooting such a car in the warm French sun is something we find impossible to dislike. Some more shots of the Crystal White one would’ve been appreciated though.

The i8 will start deliveries this summer, with prices starting at $135,700 in the us, €126,000 in Germany and £99,125 in the UK. Don’t get too excited about it though, as BMW already announced that the cars that will be built this year have already been sold.

Under the bonnet of this futuristic-looking car lies a hybrid powertrain made up of an electric motor making 131 HP and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque and a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder unit making 231 HP and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. Combined, the two make 362 HP and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, enough to send the all-wheel-drive car up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds while keeping the fuel consumption in check at 2.1 l/100 km (112 mpg).
