BMW History: 3200 CS “Bertone”

BMW V8, Italian design, luxury fittings: these are not the characteristics of a new concept car, but of the famous BMW Bertone, a classic car that stood as a sort of foundation for their current sporty design.
The 3200 CS was styled by Bertone and unveiled in 1961 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. About 600 of them were built between 1962 and 1965.

The car was related to the 502 and though the styling was new, the chassis was actually ten years old. What BMW won’t tell you in this new video they released today is that it had a solid rear axle and that sexy V8 had pushrod-operated valves.

The styling was something to behold though, as the side of the greenhouse eventually became known as the Hofmeister kink.

We’re also definitely digging the alloys, the taillights, the exhaust and the rear quarter badging!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
