Back in November 2009, BMW announced that it would be introducing a special model of the E92 M3 that would cater to those that want even more performance out of the Coupe.
That model would end up being called GTS and it was built in limited numbers, only 250 of them ever leaving the assembly lines in Germany, heading to various corners of the world.
The car went on and wrote history, accelerating to 100 km/h (62 mph) 0.3 seconds faster than the normal model and going up to 160 km/h (100 mph) in just 8.5 seconds. All of this was capable due to a couple of carefully thought out modifications amongst which you’ll find a stroked engine, taken up to 4.4-liters and 450 HP and a lighter construction by around 300 lbs (136 kg) despite having a complete roll cage inside.
Of course, all cars wore a special plate that told their owners which iteration of the 250 they had. Apparently, the roll cage also had such a plate, at least according to the guys from iND Distribution that now have one in their possession.
If we’re to read what it says on one of its support beams’ base, this one belonged to the number 158 M3 GTS ever made and was, for some reason, taken out of the car.
Now, as many of our readers build their cars and don’t just buy them, we thought it would be a good idea to let you know that you can buy a GTS roll cage right now, from iND. If you hurry up you might even get your hands on it.
