BMW Gifts the M3 with Performance Exhaust

As we’ve told you before, one of our favorite modifications is a mean exhaust system. However, this doesn’t necessarily have to come from an aftermarket developer - you can also get it from your automaker’s performance division. The latest example of this kind comes from BMW’s M division, which is introducing a new exhaust system for the M3.

The company is offering a performance exhaust system for the M3 Coupe, Convertible and Saloon, with the part being manufactured from a chrome-nickle alloy named Inconel. This offers it a very high level of heat resistance, while keeping it light. To be more specific, the new product is 40 percent lighter than the “stock” M exhaust, offering a 20 pounds (9.1 kg) weight reduction. However, all this comes with a hefty price: $4,374 (not including installation costs).

This is BMW’s view of its latest technical delicacy: “Power, Intensity, and Excitement are the feelings you will experience with the M Performance Exhaust. Made entirely of Inconel, this latest performance-enhancing exhaust component is brought to you by the Performance parts division of BMW.

The carmaker has released a video that shows us the capabilities of the new exhaust, with the action taking place at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville. You can enjoy two minutes and 32 seconds of BMW M fetishism - be sure to play it loud!

Here’s how the automotive producer describes the video: “This BMW enthusiast is indulging his inner passion and thrill seeking by testing it out for himself as he tears up the track at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Ct.
