BMW is currently manufacturing the most powerful engine in the brand's history, the S63Tu unit. This baby is fitted on the current M5, M6, M6 Gran Coupe and the Competition Package models.
Another engine that made history was the N54 unit, the one that powered the 1M Coupe and the 335is developing from 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque to 340 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.
All reviews we ever read about these two engines were more than praising their performances, almost running out of adjectives and metaphors to describe how they make you feel.
Today we get to see them head to head. Sure, the 560 HP of the S63 engine are probably too much for the 320 HP of the N54 but the E92 has a couple of tricks up its sleeve. According to the video, the 335is has an ECU tune (don't know which one) and an air box installed. Together with the 7-speed DCT transmission this should make for an interesting race.
