Hagerty, the world’s leading insurance provider for classic vehicles, has just published its annual top 10 “Hot List” of future collectibles that has the current BMW M5 on its number 2 spot.
Whilst some might frown at the suggestion, the explanation the guys from Michigan offered makes sense: “A performance-oriented sedan with an old school manual transmission is quickly becoming an extinct species. While more drivers shun the thought of using three pedals, we applaud BMW for keeping this option alive in this segment.”

The truth of the matter is that manual gearboxes are going extinct, with the drastic advancements of automatic units. Sale figures show it plain and clear, especially when it comes to high-performance models that are hard to handle because of the immense grunt they throw at you. Offering the customers 3 pedals instead of 2 as a no charge option is commendable.

The M5 was only out shun by the return of the Jag, namely the F-Type that barely made it into the list with a price tag of $99,000. You can check out the rest of it in the attached press release.
