If you're a daily driver that knows a thing or two about cars, you don't need to watch this video, you already know what brake dust is and why it's harmful. If you're new to this 'automotive' area, you might want to pay attention.
As you probably know BMW vehicles are not only good at going fast down a road, they're also good at stopping from high speeds. After all, what's power without control? Madness.

In order to make cars reach a complete stop from such high velocities big brake pads and rotors are needed. Over time, dust from the pads will end up on your car's wheels sooner or later, in various quantities.

Depending on your driving style, you may end up going through a set of pads in just 10,000 miles instead of 20,000 and so on. The sportier you drive, the more you're gonna use up your pads.

Removing the dust from your wheels is very important though. Not just because of the aesthetics of the matter but also because it has corrosive properties and will attack the alloy out of which your car's rims are made out of, possibly leading to extensive damage.

That's exactly why BMW put together a clip explaining all this and more, and you can watch it below.
