With the 2016 Nurburgring season now open, more and more steering wheel tourists are stretching the mechanical legs of their cars on the Nordschleife. With the weather now being rather vicious, lapping the 'Ring can easily turn into a drifting session.
However, many of those who take part in Touristenfahrten (tourist days) event enjoy the season's caprices, playing along with the help of throttle steering maneuvers.

And when a car comes with a special livery, such as the BMW E30 in the piece of footage below, it's difficult not to notice its sliding maneuvers.

As you'll be able to notice in the clip, this Bimmer driver decided to dress his car as a police vehicle, albeit one resembling the kind of police car they use in the US, rather than on the Old Continent. And with the man powersliding his way around the Green Hell, we've decided to offer him the "drifting police" aura.

However, the senior BMW coupe was far from the only car that went all sideways on the 'Ring. The footage was captured today, March 25, and we can see plenty of other machines whose drivers use the side windows to look ahead. And no, they're not all rear-wheel-drive cars.

As for the infamous German track, those of you who haven't been off the internet for the last six months or so (what? Some people like to extend their camping trips) know the layout of the circuit has been slightly changed for 2016.

This is just one of the changes aimed at improving safety, with the measures being introduced after a tragic VLN racing accident that took place last year.

Now, if you're planning on hitting the 'Ring, or simply want to be up to speed with the changes, you can find more on the topic in our previous article. The link doesn't just take you to a clip that shows the 2016 'Ring. Instead, it also offers a guide on how to tackle the Nordschleife.

The whole shenanigan sees a 'Ring veteran explaining every corner, so novices know when to push hard and when it's time to back down.
