The fact that BMW will expand its SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) family with a new model, the X4, is nothing new, but the Bavarians today confirmed that the vehicle will be produced at its Spartanburg site in the US.
The vehicle will roll out the Spartanburg (South Carolina) production lines alongside the X3, X5 and X6 SAVs, and BMW will invest S900 million over the next three years, as well as create 300 jobs to support the move - it will all happen by the end of the current year.
The BMW X4 will borrows the X3’s engine range - the two will use a similar philosophy as the X5/X5 unidentical twins. Thus, we’ll get a coupe-like silhouette and a setup that will offer great on-road handling with limited off-road abilities.
