BMW and MINI Support Smarter Driving Program

How often do you hear about companies that pay to teach their employees how to drive more efficiently? Not very often, do you? Well, Smarter Driving is a course that, for £25 per person, is able to teach the employees a driving style that can save on average up to £250 per person each year in fuel, as well as reducing harmful carbon dioxide emissions.

BMW and MINI have just announced their support to the program and partnered with the Energy Saving Trust, delivered through DriveSense, by providing a fleet of cars.

“We are delighted to be part of a scheme which benefits not only the drivers but their employers and the wider environment too. The BMW Group fleet promises to offer participants a dynamic and engaging experience allowing them to easily adopt a Smarter Driving style,”
said Stephen Chater, BMW Group Corporate Operations Manager, in a statement for the press.

The partnership came as each car comes with several EfficientDynamics technologies, including Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration and Optimum Shift Indicators as standard. The fleet donated by the BMW Group therefore emit between 104g/km and 128g/km whilst providing up to 72.4mpg on the combined cycle.

“With an ever growing emphasis on green driving, DriveSense are delighted to have introduced BMW and MINI as a partner to this highly effective driving program,”
added Dominic Marder, DriveSense Managing Director.

Apparently, the company says the fleet of BMWs and MINIs is expected to help teach up to 26,000 people more economical driving techniques.
