BMW 6 Series Cabrio Priced at AU$194,300 in Australia

The hot days ahead will be experienced in a totally new manner in Australia starting the end of May, when the new 6 Series convertible lands in Oz in two versions. Starting May 29, the 640i can be bought starting at AU$194,300 and from August, more pretentious buyers can opt, in exchange for AU$248,300, for the 650i V8 TwinPower Turbo.

The Australians will be able to enjoy in their right hand versions of the model all the premium features that have made it a coveted car elsewhere in the world. The 640i, powered by a 3.0l six-cylinder in-line TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, brings with it 315 hp and 450 Nm of torque, while the top of the range 4.4l V8 engine in the 650i packs 402 hp and 600 Nm of torque.

For both models, BMW prepared a long list of standard extras, that range from safety and comfort to what some might call “flashy”: 19-inch alloys, adaptive headlights, Comfort Access, Bluetooth, lumbar support, metallic paint, seat heating, Navigation System Professional, Rear View Camera, front and rear Park Distance Control, Sports Seats (650i features Comfort Seats), new-generation full color Head-Up Display, High-Beam Assist, Internet, Bi-Xenon headlights, Cruise Control with brake function, LED fog lights, USB and Dynamic Driving Control.

For the first time, the 6 Series will use a new on-board 10.2-inch freestanding screen with a galvanized chrome surround. The screen rises up steeply in front of the driver and front passenger in the style of a powerboat cockpit.

“The BMW 6 Series Convertible stands out in its competitive class combining effortless performance and elegant practicality,”
said Phil Horton, BMW Group Australia managing director. “We expect this new generation 6 Series to lure discerning customers from an array of exotic marques.”
