After a couple of leaked photos and all sorts of rumors, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe finally made it to the internet with the consent of its creator. The Munich-based company just took the ‘virtual veils’ off the new car and presented it to the world.
The second four-door coupe in BMW’s history comes as a confirmation of the success recorded by the 6 Series Gran Coupe and as a new step in its niche war. The car will, undoubtedly go up against the Audi
A5 Sportback and, most likely, it will show it how it’s done.

The dimensions of the new car are nearly the same as the ones of the 2-door Coupe with slight changes around the roofline. The length, width and wheelbase is exactly the same, whist the roof is 12 mm higher and 112 mm longer, offering more headroom to the occupants of the rear seats.

BMW claims that this is a 5 seat car but only a child could fit in between the individual seats in the back. Even so, there’s more space in the Gran Coupe than in the regular 2-door version, by far. The boot offers more space, 480 liters with the seats up and up to a class-leading 1,300 with the seats down.

The exterior design is very much the same as on the other models in the 4 Series range when it comes to the front fascia, with the same double-kidney grille, dual round headlights and the large air intake. Around the back it looks like a more refined and sleeker 3 Series GT, using a tailgate, to my surprise.

Of course, the new model will also get all the amenities and optional features of its 2 brothers. The same lines will be available (depending on the country) and the Individual program will be accessible too.
There will be 5 engine options at first, ranging from 420i, 428i, 435i petrol models to 418d and 420d diesels in selected countries (All new cars are EU6 compliant).

So, now that you finally get to see how it looks like, what do you think? Would you buy one instead of the 3 Series? Do you think it will be a success? Voice your opinion…
