After we saw exactly how it looks like, Harim Kabib explained what’s new and read about the pricing of the new 4 Series Coupe, it’s time to talk tech specs, to see exactly what we’re getting.

The new Coupe is lighter than its predecessor whilst also growing in size (wider and longer). This was achieved using new technology developed while researching the i3. The engines however, are the same and we should take a look at how they perform on the new car.

The 428i with its 2-liter turbo engine and 245 HP does 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 5.9 seconds for the manual and 5.8 seconds for the automatic 8-speed, being also limited to a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The higher-spec 435i comes with the N55 3-liter engine, 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque, reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds on the 6-speed manual and 5.1 seconds with the 8-speed automatic.

The 420d, available only in Europe at first, will be fitted with the 184 HP diesel 4-cylinder engine that develops 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque and is also fitted with the 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 0-100 km/h (62 mph) jump is done with in 7.5/7.3 seconds and the top speed is 240 km/h (150 mph).

As far as the fuel consumption figures go, the 428i returns on a combined cycle a fuel economy of 6.6/6.3 l/100km (35.6/37.3 mpg), the 435i 5.4/5.1 l/100km (43.5/46.1 mpg) whilst the 420d is the champion doing 4.7/4.6 l/100km (50/51.1 mpg).
