After learning about the pricing the limited-slip-differential for the M235i will have, it’s now time to rejoice, once again, as the F30 335i and F32 435i will also get the new diff.
For the bigger cars, the price will go up a bit too. If on the 2 Series, the LSD is priced at $2,895, on the 3 and 4 Series models it will have a price of $2,995.
What do you actually get? Well, a new rear diff with 30 percent lockup on acceleration and 9 percent on deceleration that was specifically developed for each vehicle, to ensure optimal traction and smooth locking and unlocking characteristics.
The installation will have to be done at an authorized BMW dealership, at least for now. The time needed to install it is around 2 and a half hours and the bill shouldn’t be higher than $400 according to the North American branch of the Germans.
Just like the other one, these units will also benefit from 4 years / 50,000 miles of warranty when purchased with a new vehicle, or 2 years for older cars.
An interesting difference between the applications is that on the 3 Series and the 4 Series range, the LSD will only be available on cars with automatic transmission, at least for now.
