Replacing the E82 1 Series Coupe, the new BMW 2 Series model is getting ready for launch and already details about the car have begun to emerge.
Leaked brochures from BimmerPost reveal technical details about three models, likely the only three to be available at launch.
The base model at launch (in Europe) will be the 220i, equipped with a 2-liter N20 four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine that delivers 184 PS and 270 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque. This car will do .1 l/100 km (38.5 mpg) for the manual gearbox and 5.7 l/100 km (41.2 mpg) for the automatic, while returning excellent performance off the line: 0 to 100 km/h in exactly 7 seconds.
For those wanting a little bit of extra frugalness, a 220d model will also be available, powered by the now familiar N47 unit with 184 HP and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). This can return as little as 4.2 l/100km combined.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the 2 Series lineup, in the absence of a true M model, will be the M235i coupe. The leaked data appears to be for the rear-wheel drive model only, which gets from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 second with the automatic and 5 seconds with the manual gearbox.
