BMW 1-Series with M3 Coupe V8 Up for Grabs

There used to be a time when the most powerful 1-Series was not the M Coupe but a normal five-door hatchback. We are talking about the 130i, which came with a VW Golf R32-rivaling 3-liter engine that sent a total of 265 horsepower to the rear wheels.

It seems that some Norwegians remember that 1-Series hatchback used to be cool, as they gave the car a heart transplant. The model that is currently on sale on Finn.no comes with a modified version of the E92 BMW M3 Coupe’s 4.0-liter V8 engine tweaked to produce 435 horsepower.

The car also has the M3’s gearbox (including the shifter) differential and brakes, plus a Bilstein sports suspension, a BMW performance exhaust system and 19-inch BBS alloy wheels in 235 tires up front and 265 at the back. Basically, this is a 1-Series only in spirit.

The exterior has been enhanced using an M Sport aero package with bespoke front and rear bumpers, an AC Schnitzer lower front apron and roof spoiler, and BMW Performance stripes and carbon fiber rear diffuser. You can tell the car has been tuned, but most people on the street won’t notice it until you rev the engine.

Interior wise, the car comes with a number of BMW Performance elements, including alcantara-dressed bucket seats and sports steering wheel, M Sport instrument panel and more.

Before you get too excited about owning a V8 1-Series hatchback, let us tell you the price for all these M goodies: a whopping NOK749,000, which is about US$135,600 or €96,000. If you’re not into one-offs, you’re better off with the regular M3.

Still, the site provides plenty of shots of the engine bay, so you can tell it's the real deal.
