It is no secret anymore than China has become the safe haven for troubled global carmakers in these troubled times. With the country being, for the better part of the year, the only one in the world posting good sales result, it is no wonder Changan Ford Mazda expects to see its sales figures 50 percent up compared to the sales recorded last year.
The joint venture now envisions a total number of units sold to be standing at 320,000 thanks largely to the fast and effective government incentives, including reduced sales tax for small cars and subsidies for buyers in rural areas.
According to Autonews, next year the joint venture between the three carmakers expects an even more exciting year. This is mostly because in China, the number of people which own a car remains really small, in the area of 20-40 to every 1,000 as Jeffrey Shen, the joint-venture's CEO says in an interview cited by the source. For comparison, in the US about 500-800 people out of 1,000 own a car.
If you have been watching our sales reports for just about every single carmaker in the world which stands for something, you might know that the over-praised increase in sales does not actually mean hundreds of thousands of cars sold in the country.
In fact, most still sell under the 20,000 units/month mark. What encourages them, is the fact that the percentages look good. Taking into account an increase in sales of around 50 percent/ month and the aforementioned population/cars ratio, the future looks extremely good in China.
Especially for local ventures the likes of Changan Ford Mazda.
